The State of our Union.

Hi Y'all,

Clearly I have not been blogging. No matter how much I swear I am going to blog it just somehow does not happen. I have to say that I do have a reason for not blogging though.

The hubs and I have been going through a deeply personal stage in our lives and honestly we have been wanting to keep our lives a bit private until what we want comes through.

We are learning that sometimes you cannot control things.

Sometimes work doesn't go the way you plan it and you have to work a lot. Sometimes finances are not in tip-top shape and you have to squeeze every little penny. Sometimes fun activities are not that fun when you have something on the back of your mind. But we are learning that we cannot control things. We are learning that no matter how much we want something to happen it is really all God's plan.

So what are we going to do about this thing we cannot control? We are going to continue to proactively do everything in our power to make it happen. We will be focused and motivated and excited and hopeful... BUT we will also be calm and collected. What we are going through is a test to our relationship as well as a test to who we are as people, and so far we are passing with flying colors.

What this difficult "stage" in our lives is teaching me is that I am part of a union that is so strong that not even the largest of relationship-quakes can shake us up. I am learning that I married the RIGHT man for me. I am learning that without my husband I would not be strong. I am learning that I am eternally grateful to God for having him in my life. My husband has become my miracle and after 8 years of knowing him I cannot fathom existing without him.

Today I blogged because I am Thankful for my life and the people in it and I thought my four readers should know.

Thank you if you are still reading. :)

Gratefully yours,

Mrs. Pink.

Lately....

My last blog post was a couple of weeks ago because we have been quite busy. In fact this post will be filled with pictures of our recent activities, because what's a better way to know what we have been up to than by seeing us in action!

We've been shopping and browsing... and I found this(!) at a forever 21 in Orlando (at our fourth of July trip!)

It's SWEET PINK RUFFLES!!!! My favorite (hence the name of this blog)! How awesome is that?

I also scored this fabulous hat (the one I'm wearing). The hubby and I have been taking turns with it. Its not your typical fedora and it is absolutely super sassy.

We've also been doing a lot of eating! Our hometown has been hit by the food truck movement and there is nothing more delicious than grabbing a picnic blanket and enjoying the summer heat while consuming more calories than a human being should...

(My favorite is the latin burger truck! Delicious!)

Lastly, last weekend was my cousin's baby shower (IT'S A BOY!). We got all dolled up and went on to celebrate this very special time with her!
Here's a picture of my dress....
(and my cute hubby, of course). I figured I would dress in Blue since it is a baby BOY!!! I'm very festive. :)

Our typical good-angle-self-portrait-because-no-one-ever-takes-our-picture!

Of course... I saved the best for last...

We got dragged into playing a baby shower game... and here I am blind-folded getting ready to stuff the hubby with baby food. YUM!

Life has been absolutely great lately, and I can't be any more THANKFUL.

Gratefully yours,

Mrs. Pink.

My Iphone Drama... for your reading pleasure.

I should start by saying that my iPhone is pretty much my life. I have been a loyal member of the apple family since the first generation of iPhones. Before I go on, I must say that this is not a paid advertisement for apple, in fact you will see that I went through some pretty frustrating moments. Don't worry... this story has a happy ending... See?

It all started with my phone giving me trouble. It went from acting funny and freezing up to not responding. I tried to deal with it as much as I could but it got to the point where I couldn't handle it anymore. Then as I was about to give up the center button (or the home button) went kaput. I had to go to the apple store and seek help.

My first experience at the apple store was quite nice. We made an appointment and waited our turn. I was one or two days from not qualifying for the warranty replacement. They were nice enough to give me a new phone but they were unable to tell me if it was a "brand new phone or a refurbished one." Turns out my first replacement (yes there were many!) was indeed a refurbished phone... and even though they say those work just as well as the new ones... I have news for you... THEY DON'T. My first replacement was defective to say the least. The ear piece was sooooo painful. Like nails on a chalkboard. Extremely loud. Unbearable.

Our second experience... was comfortable but not as great. I had my original paperwork, yet they still kinda, sorta, doubted me. They checked for water damage, they read the papers over and over again. It was almost like they didn't believe me... until they took my poor little replacement phone to "the back" and tested it themselves. Yup... that genius came back with a migraine from how loud my phone was! Sure enough, they issued me a replacement. This was phone number 3 if you include my original phone (try to keep up with me...).

Our third experience at the apple store was a negative one for us. The folks at apple were still quite nice. It was just that we were exhausted because we had spent the entire weekend in Orlando on vacation. The last thing we wanted was to have to stop at a store to deal with the whole exchange process (which lasts about an hour, in case you've never had to do it). The third phone would not rotate. I noticed this as I was about to take a picture of my handsome hubby. This time we decided to be rebellious and stop without at appointment at a different store than we are used too. Sure enough, they saw that the phone did not rotate screens (from vertical to horizontal or vice-versa). They issued me phone number four.

Let me just say that, if you are feeling desperate just by reading this... imagine how I was feeling... anyway the last phone I got would not work when switched to silent, it just kept ringing. It was horribly embarassing every time my phone would ring, beep, click, AT WORK! So we took it back for the 100th time (have you been keeping up? Because I lost count!) This time... very nicely... I asked them to give me a new phone because I was NOT about to keep loosing time, work, gas and patience on refurbished phones. I even got tough and asked that "because of my inconvenience" I wanted a WHITE iphone. A NEW white iphone!!! They said they couldn't promise me a white phone... but they did promise me a NEW phone. No more refurbished drama! YAY!!!

So today I received a phone call... my new phone was available. Listen up everybody let me present to you... Gardenia... My new WHITE iPhone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So now you know... technology is great... but sometimes it's not perfect. I do have to say Thank you to the nice people at Apple... they were able and willing to work with me throughout this whole ordeal. I would whole-heartedly recommend this company and its little geniuses to everyone!

Tired(full)y yours,

Mrs. Pink

Fourth of Jully '11 Weekend Recap

This weekend was amazing! The hubby and I went off to Orlando for the weekend and we truly had a FABULOUS time. We left Friday night after work and checked in to the hotel. It was still relatively early so we went to CitiWalk, a small shopping and dining district. We walked around and had Moe's for dinner. It was a great way to end our day.
On Saturday we went to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. We have been there quite a few times because we are lucky enough to be annual passholders but this time was so different. We often go with friends and this time we went alone. We've gone alone before but this time FELT different... and it was AWESOME!
Here are some pictures from the day...
Here I am... pretending to be a big-time movie director!
Here's my handsome hubby... he makes a much better director that I do!
Jumping pictures are the BEST. I like the "Hop" background.
My hubby LOVED these cars, from the Fast & Furious Flicks.
Am I the luckiest girl in the world... or what?
We were sooooooo tired, and so full of heat exhaustion, that we decided to take a break from the outdoors and went to watch a movie. Transformers 3 to be exact. The hubby liked it... I... not so much. After the movie we went to Harry Potter's World in Islands of Adventure where we had some butterbeer and soft serve ice cream. We finished the night with a quick dinner at Panda Express and went back to our hotel.

Sunday we were so tired and over-heated from the day before that we decided to take it easy. We strolled around the city of Orlando, had lunch, visited the shopping malls and really just relaxed. We did manage to sneak in another movie, we saw "The Green Lantern" and actually liked it. At least I liked it better than Transformers.

Today, we got all decked out in our Fourth of July best and went out for an all-American lunch. We left right away with hopes to make it down to our hometown on time for fireworks. I asked the hubby if we could stop by H&M at a mall about half-way home and he nicely obliged... but when we got there we found out that they were closing in 20 minutes. I had been having trouble with my iphone for quite some time so instead of shopping at H&M we decided to go over to the Apple store to try to get it replaced. After begging and pleading we found a kind Apple dude that put us on a special list and I was able to get my phone replaced for the third time in the past few weeks (that's a post for a different day!). I'll have to ask the hubby to take me back to go shopping... they had some pretty cute dresses for less than 15 dollars! We never made it to the fireworks but we did get to hang out together and watch some true blood.

Ok so that's all I've got for the recap. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to spend time with the most important man in my life.

Happily yours,

Mrs. Pink

Work & People Watching

It’s amazing how different people have different personalities. I work in the mental health field and you would think that we were all similar or at least in touch with the same things, yet we are not. I only go to the office about once a week and when I do, boy do I get a kick out of my visit. It’s amazing how different people can be. I truly enjoy my office days because I get a glimpse into the lives of these fabulous individuals.
I love to people watch and let me tell you there is no better place to people watch than at your office. I ask myself questions like: “I wonder if she is as unhappy at home as she is at work?” or “Is that person really always in a good mood?” I have always been a wonderer… a bit of an investigator. I like to find out things. There is nothing I love more than to find out what’s in your purse. I love looking inside people’s homes (if their blinds are open of course) as I pass them on my neighborhood walks. I am fascinated by the lives that people lead.
I guess this fascination with people may have been the reason why I became a clinician. It’s so interesting to look into the human being and explore why they do the things they do. Is it because of something that they are going through? Is their environment causing their happiness or sadness? Why do some people place more importance into certain things and not others?
On days like today I am so thankful to all of my amazing professors for teaching me how to read these wonderful creatures that we share the planet with. I am proud of myself for choosing the profession that I chose. On a day like today I am so happy to be alive.

(The formatting on this post may be a bit odd, I'm not good with electronics, and I'm using the hubby's iPad).

Happily yours,
Mrs. Pink
